Bell Samsung Galaxy Tab: Hands On Video

Although no official launch dates are announced, the Samsung Galaxy Tab is set to appear on both Rogers and Bell here in Canada, probably by the end of November.  We had a chance to get our hands on one, and came away suitably impressed. The Android based tablet, seen as the second mainstream device in the tablet behind the iPad, sports a 7 inch 1024×600 display using Samsung’s Super LCD screen technology, making it about half the size of the iPad.  Unlike the silver back of the European version, Samsung…

Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood multiplayer interview

Now that PS3 owners have had the pleasure of trying out the Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood multiplayer demo, Ubisoft has taken to showing off the different modes more openly, and discussing their plans going forward.  The main challenge in multiplayer was to find game modes that actually work with the franchise.  To keep in the spirit of the franchise, the players are actually Templars training in the Animus, running through various simulations, which represent the different multiplayer modes. We had a chance to talk with Christophe Grandjean of Ubisoft Montreal about…

LG Optimus Quantum Hands On: video

We take a look at the LG Optimus Quantum Windows Phone 7 device with a slideout landscape QWERTY keyboard.  The slide mechanism, while a bit stiff, also feels very solid, and still doable with one hand.  When holding it in landscape mode, LG made sure that the screen portion was nice and light, so that there’s a solid balance while typing.  In fact, when we first got our hands on the Optimus Quantum, it barely registered as a slider. The keyboard itself ranks up there with the HTC Touch Pro…

Fable III “Revolution” trailer launches

In less than two weeks (or Oct 26), Fable III launches for the Xbox 360, continuing the adventures in Albion. This time, your character plays a revolutionary who becomes leader, and the decisions you make along the way. In our in-depth interview with Lionhead creative director Josh Atkins, he mentions that one of the goals of the game was to have the players actually put down the controls to consider their moral decisions. The trailer itself eschews gameplay to focus on the atmosphere of the game.  The combination of music…

Both phones sport 16GB of RAM and 1GHz processors, with the real differentiator between the two being the choice of keyboard or not.  The Optimus 7 has a 3.8″ screen, while the keyboard packing Optimus Quantum has a slightly smaller 3.5″ screen. Halloween Video Playlist Part 1

What will you be watching on Halloween? As a ramp up to All Hallows Eve here is the first in a series of suggestions… If classic science fiction deals with the question, “What if?” then the steam-punk or historical revisionist work amuses itself with, “If only…” When H.P. Lovecraft’s “The Call of Cthulhu” was published in Weird Tales in 1926, the technology existed to make a silent movie of it, if only anyone had  been so inclined. In 2003, a group of H.P. Lovecraft fanatics; a live action role-playing group…

Minecraft – A First Person Builder

Two weeks ago my sixteen year old son, Reid, was playing with it. Earlier this week Cory Doctorow was writing about it at Boing Boing. What is this thing called “Minecraft”? If you know about it then you’re probably playing it. If not…then…so you don’t feel out of the loop tonight when the people who hang out in the kitchen talking at parties weigh in on this one: here’s a crash course. Minecraft is an online game which uses the visual conventions of a first person shooter for constructive purposes, literally….
