AMC’s The Walking Dead gets a Mini-doc

It’s no secret that the RGB Filter bullpen has more than its share of zombie fans, which explains why this isn’t the first time we’ve posted about The Walking Dead TV series coming out from AMC, which kicks off on All Hallow’s Eve.  As part of the build-up, AMC has released a new 18 minute documentary on the making of the show, talking with the producers, actors, and writer of the the comic, Robert Kirkman.

Walking Dead dispatches

AMC and the producers of The Walking Dead are managing to keep fans updated on the series production almost daily. In the latest round, there are a couple of notable interviews on the official blog, including one with producer Gale Anne Hurd of The Terminator and Aliens fame, as well as the director of the second episode, Michelle MacLaren (who also directed, among others, the 3rd season opener for the brilliant Breaking Bad). The really good news is that Robert Kirkman, creator of the comic series, appears to be very…

Walking Dead blog: Robert Kirkman and Greg Nicotero interviews

It’s pretty obvious why AMC is going all out on the official Walking Dead blog.  It’s mainly publicity, and a dash of assauging the fear of some fans that an adaptation of the comic into TV format might water down the gruesome contents.  On the latter, I think there’s little to fear now, as they’ve been pretty open that this isn’t going to be a PG show.  Of course, fans of AMC’s other shows, Mad Men, and the absolutely brilliant Breaking Bad probably guessed this right out of the gate….

Walking Dead: Zombie School

The folks over at AMC are certainly doing a good job of using the Walking Dead series blog as a production diary.  Besides some of the make up work that they released images of, they’re including more and more behind the scenes featurettes and shorts.  The latest is “Zombie School“, where the zombie extras are actually trained in zombie choreography.  They’ve also put up the first production still (the image above, natch) and you can see the high res version, as well as the video, after the break…

The Walking Dead enters production

It’s no secret that The Walking Dead is one of our favourite ongoing comics here at rgb HQ, so when it was announced a TV series based on it was in the pipeline, we couldn’t be happier.  A TV series based on the book could be potentially awesome, if handled properly, and eveything seems to be lining up in that direction.  Although AMC’s list of original series is short, their track record is impeccable, what with Mad Men, and the best show currently on TV, Breaking Bad.  Breaking Bad in…

AMC greenlights ‘The Walking Dead’ TV series

Following on from the news in January that AMC had ordered the pilot for a TV series of the best genre comic ever, ‘The Walking Dead’, comes the annoncement that a six episode series has been greenlit by AMC. The project has been on a fast track after AMC won a bidding war last August for the rights to the comic.  AMC must have a lot of confidence in Frank Darabont’s vision for the series after greenlighting a whole season while the pilot is still being cast. Hopefully this vision…

AMC TV greenlights ‘The Walking Dead’ Pilot

Last year it was announced that Robert Kirkman’s Image comic‘The Walking Dead’ had been optioned by AMC to be turned into a TV Series. This was great news for many. As an ongoing series on the cable network, it won’t be bound by the same FCC constrictions as the broadcast networks. This should hopefully lead to an authentic adaptation of what our friend Chris at Comics212 (and organizer of TCAF) says was one of the past decades best genre comics. On Wednesday the show took one more shamble closer to…
