Rogers confirms, again, that they will carry the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro

A few weeks ago we posted about our discovery on Rogers website, in the list of compatible devices for the Rogers on Demand Mobile application, confirmation of the Rogers Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini and Mini pro. Smart people that we are, we reached out to Rogers to see if they would confirm, finally after a few months of rumours, that they would be carrying these phones. Of course, instead of confirming, all we got was a ‘no comment’, and the offending page was promptly changed to erase all trace…

Acer Liquid E on Rogers review

Before jumping into a review of the Acer Liquid E, let’s take a really brief look at the history of Acer… Back in the days when more PC users built their own machines, Acer was known for it’s computer component parts, such as motherboards, and branded graphics cards.  Although they branched out into pre-built PCs and laptops over a decade ago, it’s really been the past few years, when they’ve capitalized on the decreasing costs of components, and made a series of acquisitions, that have propelled them into the worldwide…

A New Twist In The Rogers “Cheaters” Lawsuit… Others Claim To have The Same Issue With Rogers

[The following is an IT Nerd commentary…] You’ll recall that a woman is suing Rogers for $600,000 claiming that Rogers exposed her affair by consolidating her Rogers cell phone bill with her now ex-husband’s  and that I didn’t think her chances of winning were all that high. The plaintiff held a news conference yesterday and claims that others have had the same issue that she has had with Rogers:

Sony Ericsson announces Xperia X8, pushes up X10 2.1 update, and win an X10 from Rogers for Father’s Day

Today Sony Ericsson confirmed the existence of the recently leaked ‘Shakira’ mid-sized Android smartphone, when they officially introduced the Xperia X8. While Rogers has not confirmed, or even hinted, that they will carry this phone, it makes sense that they will, since they currently carry the Xperia X10, and will soon have the X10 Mini. The X8 fits in-between these two phones, in both price and size, and sports a 3 inch screen, 600 MHz CPU, 3.2 MP camera, and runs Sony Ericsson’s Timescape UI. This phone takes the best…

Rogers accidentally confirms that they will carry the Sony Ericsson X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro

Rogers was the first North American carrier to release the Xperia X10, Sony Ericsson’s first Android smartphone (Our review of this 4″ screen flagship phone is coming soon), and soon Rogers will also be the first carrier to offer the X10’s younger siblings, the X10 Mini, and X10 Mini Pro.  Even though neither Sony Ericsson, nor Rogers  have officially announced that either of these phones will be coming to Canada, it has been rumoured for a while that they would. Now we have confirmation – on the Rogers on Demand…

iPhone 4 announced, coming to Canada ‘in the coming weeks’

Yesterday was Apple’s annual WWDC, where they have announced each new iPhone model since 2008. This year the worst kept secret in recent memory, the iPhone 4, was detailed in Steve Job’s keynote speech, and, unlike previous years, there weren’t that many surprises. Everything lined up with the leaked images and specs, and rather than repeat what most of you have already read, you can go to Apple’s iPhone 4 page here for more details. The keynote was notable, though, for what was not mentioned — the rumoured trackpad we…

Rogers announces availability of Acer Liquid e

As of today, Rogers is the first to introduce an Acer smartphone to the North American market, in the form of the Liquid e.  Don’t let the name fool you.  There’s no glowstick app pre-installed, and it doesn’t come with a Paul Oakenfold discography on board, though the inclusion of both would have been an edgy stroke of marketing genius. Then again, it may not need that kind of marketing, because the specs of the phone hold their own.  Running stock Android 2.1 on a 768MHz Snapdragon, the Liquid e…

Telus finally confirms their iPad plans, NOT offering unlimited data as originally thought

The image above, created earlier today, was based on some assumptions taken from Telus’ weekend announcement of their iPad plan. After some speculation on Friday, a press release was sent out on Saturday detailing their offering – a single plan of 500MB for $20, which at the low-end is a much better deal that what Bell and Rogers are offering, and unlike their plans, Telus’ is available post paid (sadly with a $35 activation fee). What was more intriguing though was that overage is charged at 5¢ per MB, ‘up…

Apple iPad Canadian launch, Rogers on-device data plans available, Bell plans available, and Telus is MIA

Though you’re all probably aware, we wouldn’t be doing our jobs here if we didn’t mention something about the roll out of the iPad beyond US borders, including here in Canada.  From the breathless coverage in the mainstream press, it appears that there were close to 200 people ready to get their hands on the iPad on opening day at the Apple store in the Eaton Centre. If there’s a certain lack of excitement to this article, it’s not born so much from cynicism of the whole circus, though there…

Samsung Galaxy Spica Review

The Spica is one of the most recent Android phones from Samsung, and has been released on Rogers in Canada. It seems pretty obvious that Samsung and Rogers are aiming this at the lower end market, as the Spica can be had, as of this writing, for as little as $29.95 on contract, which makes it a viable alternative to zero dollar ‘dumb phones’. Rogers was kind enough to send us a review unit to put it through the wringer, and I have to say the Spica is an odd…

Apple taking Canadian iPad pre-orders now, announces Rogers data plans

It’s 3am, and I just checked the Apple.ca store, and the iPad pre-order page is up!
