Bell and Virgin Mobile release the HTC Incredible S and Bell updates Mobile TV

The HTC Incredible S is now available on both Bell and Virgin Mobile. This Android smartphone, the latest from HTC, was first shown at this year’s Mobile World Conference, on Feb 15th. It is incredible, then, that it came out in Canada so quickly. We usually have to wait at least 2 to 3 months for the latest phones to get here from the US and Europe.

Bell HTC Legend discontinued

It was only a couple of months ago when Bell released the HTC Legend (just after the Virgin branded one), an Android phone with a great aluminum unibody design and a gorgeous AMOLED screen.  Now it looks like that the Bell version of the phone has met an untimely demise, possibly due to the inability of HTC to get enough of those AMOLED screens out. Please be advised that, due to ongoing supply constraints from the manufacturer, the HTC Legend for Bell is effective immediately being discontinued and SKUs for…

iPhone 4 Toronto launch report with video and pictures

RGB Filter was at the Toronto launch of the iPhone 4 on Friday, July 30th. However not being a die-hard Apple fanatic I wasn’t lining up for the phone myself, so I slept in and missed the 7 AM early opening at the Apple Store. When I got to the Eaton Centre, at about 7.30 AM, there was a short line outside the Bell store, waiting for that store’s 10 AM opening, a pretty long line outside Fido, and a few people outside the Rogers store. Most amusing to me…

The die-hard Apple fanatics will still be lining up in front of stores to get their Precious, but with a lot more choices available in Canada for high-end smartphones now (the Samsung Galaxy S comes to mind), I can’t help but…

Bell also releases the HTC Legend

While we are still waiting for our Virgin Legend to arrive, so we can post our review of the latest HTC Android phone to be released in Canada, we also want to (belatedly) report that Bell has also officially launched the Legend. As mentioned in the article about the Virgin Mobile Legend, the Bell version was released, as the leaks indicated, last week, on Wednesday June 16th, with much less fanfare than the Virgin version (who had Richard Branson on hand in Montreal to launch the phone). The Bell HTC…

Virgin Mobile launches their first Android phone, the HTC Legend

In a surprise move, Bell launched the HTC Legend Android smartphone this past Friday, on their Virgin Mobile MVNO. Up until last week it was thought that the flagship Android phone in Bell’s line-up would launch on the main brand. On Friday Best Buy’s website was even updated prematurely, to show to Legend as available on Bell.  Later that day, however, it was Virgin Mobile who was the first carrier in North America to officially announce availability of the Legend.  At an event on Friday, Virgin Group Chairman Sir Richard…

iPhone 4 announced, coming to Canada ‘in the coming weeks’

Yesterday was Apple’s annual WWDC, where they have announced each new iPhone model since 2008. This year the worst kept secret in recent memory, the iPhone 4, was detailed in Steve Job’s keynote speech, and, unlike previous years, there weren’t that many surprises. Everything lined up with the leaked images and specs, and rather than repeat what most of you have already read, you can go to Apple’s iPhone 4 page here for more details. The keynote was notable, though, for what was not mentioned — the rumoured trackpad we…
