Fido has added the Acer Liquid e to their smartphone line up. When we took a look at the phone on Rogers in the bygone era of earlier this summer, we were suitably impressed with the performance, for a relatively low cost. RGB Filter was at the Toronto launch of the iPhone 4 on Friday, July 30th. However not being a die-hard Apple fanatic I wasn’t lining up for the phone myself, so I slept in and missed the 7 AM early opening at the Apple Store. When I got to the Eaton Centre, at about 7.30 AM, there was a short line outside the Bell store, waiting for that store’s 10 AM opening, a pretty long line outside Fido, and a few people outside the Rogers store. When Microsoft announced their Kin mobile phones and service, there was direct mention of both US and European carriers, but Canada was missing off that list. Rogers and Fido to allow free tethering with most data plans

That’s right. Rogers was running a promotion that allowed data users to tether their phone’s data to laptops and other devices for free. There was some concern that once this promotion ran out, customers would be paying extra to basically use the data that they’re already using.
