Last week we put up our interview with the stars of the new Showcase Original TV Series Lost Girl. This week we got a chance to interview Michelle Lovretta, the creator, co-show runner and writer of five of the thirteen episodes, via email. In the interview Michelle talks about the show, how the lead character Bo relates to other strong female genre show characters, the role of sexuality in Lost Girl and much more. I will also be posting my thoughts about the actual show soon, probably after I have…

SteelSeries Xai Gaming Mouse Review

I am staring at the box of the SteelSeries Xai. It has been packed up after my review, so we can give it away to one lucky reader. Then I look back at my Microsoft Sidewinder X8 gaming mouse. A mouse that is wireless and fracking glows RED! Yet I am so tempted to deny someone the chance to enjoy the Xai mouse – I want to crack open that package and go back to it right now. I won’t of course, but that feeling shows how much of an…

Sony Ericsson X-10 Mini unboxing and short review

A couple of weeks ago, before the craziness of Fan Expo and TIFF, Sony Ericsson was kind enough to send us the new Xperia X10 Mini for us to review. In the video above you can see our un-boxing of the phone, and a short review, where I go over the main features of what they claim is the ‘The worlds smallest Android phone’. The X10 Mini was also recently awarded ‘European Mobile Phone 2010-2011’ by the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA). Please note that while shooting the video…

TIFF 2010: Monsters Q&A with director Gareth Edwards and cast

Monsters, directed by Gareth Edwards, was one of my top picks for this year’s TIFF. I had heard some good things about the film – some were calling it this year’s District 9, made at a fraction of its budget. Going in, I wasn’t really sure what to expect. It turns out that aside from the fact that Monsters and District 9 both feature their aliens in a ‘real-world’ setting, the two films have almost nothing in common. In actual fact, Monsters totally surprised me — it is unlike any…

TIFF 2010: Submarine Q & A with Richard Ayoade

The Q & A session with director of Submarine, Richard Ayoade and the cast (Craig Roberts, Yasmin Paige & Sally Hawkins). Though I am only attending a handful of films at this years TIFF, Submarine was one of my must sees. Richard Ayoade (many of you might know him as Moss from the IT Crowd) brought his debut feature to Toronto, and this Q & A shows how funny he is in person. Yes I AM the guy who asked the the last question from behind my camera, and was…

Google Android’s assault on the smartphone market share has been relentless this year, and along with HTC, the battle has been spearheaded by Motorola. Google’s strategy to win the war against RIM and Apple is simply to overwhelm the enemy with numbers – there are a staggering amount of Android phones…

Duke’s back, Hail to the King – lines courtesy of Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, John Carpenter & Roddy Piper

Now that Duke Nukem is back in the public eye, perhaps Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, John Carpenter, and Roddy Piper should consider taking action to ensure that they are properly credited in the new game for the lines ‘appropriated’ from Army of Darkness and They Live…(oh and Scarface). Check out a clip from They Live after the break.

The End is Nigh: Duke Nukem Forever is coming out in 2011

Woah! Duke Nukem Forever is actually coming out. In 2011. At PAX Take Two announced that Gearbox Software would be completing the game. 3D Realms, the original developer, shut down development last year when they ran out of money. More details about how Gearbox got involved and revived a game we all thought was dead can be found in this great article on Kotaku here. Seeing as DNF has been in production since 1997, I thought I’d list a couple of things in gaming and tech history that have happened…

Telus and Bell also releasing the Torch on the 24th

Telus and Bell have joined the Blackberry Torch party and also announced that they will be releasing the Blackberry 9800 Torch on September 24th. No official price has been announced by Telus, and Bell has said it will be $199 on a 3-year contract.  I think it’s safe to predict the Telus price to be the same. The 24th is a big day for Canadian RIM fans.  However, it remains to be seen if RIM and the carriers can generate the same level of excitement for the Torch as the…
