Minecraft notches over 1,000,000 sales

When a major console or PC game racks up a million copies sold, it rarely registers as a blink in the market. A million sometimes doesn’t recoup the costs of a ‘Triple A” title. In comparison, not many indie games manage to get close to that number. Markus “Notch” Persson’s Minecraft is another story though. Sold online via the Minecraft website, not only did the game hit one million in sales, but it shows little evidence of slowing down.

The Start Show – starting today

The Start Show, being held at the Great Hall in the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) , is all about promoting and celebrating Toronto’s awesome indie game scene, with a special games-as-art focus.  The Hand Eye Society will be there running a number of titles, and if you haven’t yet checked out the Hand Eye Society, I’d highly recommend it.  The Start Show runs every day from 8am to 10pm, until Friday Sept 17th, with a special Gala event on Thursday night.  I can’t recommend this highly enough. …

Toronto Hand Eye Society Social Tonight

The Toronto Hand Eye Society, a “not-for-profit coalition of projects and people in support of Toronto’s videogame communities”, is holding their third social of 2010, at Unit Bar, 1198 Queen West. This, believe it or not, is a real game, coming from EricRuthGames early next year. The flagship title of the PixelForce NES de-makes is Valve’s Left 4 Dead. This game play footage gives you an idea of what the project looks like in action and how it plays. As you can see, it’s a standard top-down 4 directional action/shooter.
