Star Wars Day TO: Tonight at the Toronto Underground Cinema

While the fourth has been around for a while now, today marks the second annual celebration of all things Star Wars, with Star Wars Day TO.  Once again, the festivities take place at the Toronto Underground Cinema, and kick off at 7pm.  Besides various screenings, there will be a costume contest, trivia (I’m guessing NOT about Game of Thrones, but that’s just a hunch), special guests and prizes.  All the proceeds for this year’s even will be going to the SickKids Foundation. Toronto Comic Con annouces line-up

Fan Expo may be the biggest comic convention in Canada, but it’s not the only one. The line up for Wizard’s 2011 Toronto Comic Con was announced earlier this week, and it’s chalk full of fandom favourites including Star Wars alumni Billy Dee Williams and David Prowse. Of course, beyond the pop culture draws, there will be plenty of comic creators on hand.

Windows Phone 7 launch games announced

In anticipation of the international fall launch of Windows Phone 7, Microsoft has announced the starting line up of games, clocking in at over 60 titles.  This includes some casual mobile classics like Uno and the always addictive Bejewelled, and mobile interpretations of console titles such as Guitar Hero 5, Halo: Waypoint, and Assassins Creeed.  For Star Wars fans there’ll be a couple of games developed by THQ – Cantina, which puts you in the role of a Tatooine bar owner, and Battle For Hoth, a tower defense game set…

Rogers launches Chatr, Mobilicity pursuing legal action

Rogers officially launched their new discount mobile brand Chatr yesterday, after delaying the planned mid-July launch for unspecified reasons. Chatr, like the new Canadian wireless entrants (Mobilicity, Public Mobile and Wind Mobile), is a zone based unlimited cellphone service. The service will be available in in Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa and Vancouver, and will be expanding to Montreal in the fall. Xbox E3 2010 keynote highlights

Microsoft’s keynote at this year’s E3 (the Electronic Entertainment Expo, don’t you know), is probably the biggest one in the past few years, on a number of levels.  Of course, all the big titles were trotted out, including Bungie’s final installment of the Xbox franchise, Halo: Reach, which looks like it’s adding space battles.  Other big titles on display include the latest in the Gears of War and Fable franchises.  There was even some footage from Metal Gear Solid: Rising.
