On Monday night we attended the Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour (vol.6) Launch Party, and while I knew that the comic was popular, I didn’t expect to see so many people crowding Markham Street, waiting for the book, and their hero, Bryan Lee O’Malley to sign it. If you are not too familiar with Scott Pilgrim, it is a manga inspired-comic set in Toronto, starring the titular Scott Pilgrim and his efforts to win, and keep, his dream girl, Ramona Flowers by battling her seven ‘evil exes’. To celebrate the long awaited launch of the final volume in the Epic Scott Pilgrim comic book series (soon to be a major motion picture, and video game by Ubisoft), the Beguiling comic store in Toronto is taking over Markham Street, all night long, to hold an amazing launch party. Yesterday, the second trailer for Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World was released after Edgar Wright had decided to withhold its premiere until his Twitter campaign reaped a desired 100,000 ‘likes’ on Facebook. It was a little disappointing to find out that he was clamouring for ‘likes’ on a site that many people have moved on from.
