Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood details emerge

ACROME_LogoI know I wasn’t the only one at rgbFilter who unsurprised, but still a little frustrated at the cliffhanger ending to Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed II.  Well, Ubi has come out with some news about the follow-up, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.  The game continues Ezio’s story as a full-fledged Assassin, focusing on fighting the corruption in Rome,  around beginning of the 16th century… so no, not THAT corruption…

Besides continuing Ezio’s story, the game will introduce a new multiplayer component.  Although the details are scarce, players will be able help the Assassins sworn enemies, the Templars, via the mysterious organization Abstergo.

Brotherhood is being developed in a rather unique way, as a worldwide production effort led by the Ubisoft Montreal Studio, in collaboration with Ubisoft studios in Singapore, Bucharest, Québec City and Annecy – which will allow the core Montreal team to focus on the as yet unannounced Assassin’s Creed III. Let’s hope this distributed development model will not affect the quality of finished game.

Brotherhood will be shipping for the Holiday 2010 season.

UBISOFT UNMASKS FIRST DETAILS FOR ASSASSIN’S CREED BROTHERHOOD
Forthcoming Assassin’s Creed Opus Continues the Legend of Ezio as He Takes on Rome and Includes a Multiplayer Component for the First Time Ever in the Series

SAN FRANCISCO – MAY 11, 2010 – Today Ubisoft® announces new product details for Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, the next iteration of the critically acclaimed, multi-million unit selling franchise. Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood will ship Holiday 2010 for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and the PC. Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood is a worldwide production effort led by the Ubisoft Montreal Studio in collaboration with Ubisoft studios in Singapore, Bucharest, Québec City and Annecy, best known for developing the multiplayer in Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Chaos Theory.

The critically acclaimed single-player experience of Assassin’s Creed is back and better than ever as Ezio returns in an epic struggle against the powerful Templar Order. Now a legendary Master Assassin, he must journey into Italy’s greatest city, Rome, center of power, greed and corruption to strike at the heart of the enemy. Defeating the corrupt tyrants entrenched there will require not only strength, but leadership, as Ezio commands an entire Brotherhood that will rally to his side. Only by working together can the Assassins defeat their mortal enemies.

And for the first time, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood offers a never-before-seen multiplayer layer. Players can help the Templars by using Abstergo to train in the art of Assassination to eliminate the Assassins once and for all. Players can choose from a wide range of unique characters, each with their own signature weapons and assassination techniques, and match their skills against other players from all over the world in different game modes.

Assassins Creed Brotherhood is featured in a world-exclusive first look in the July issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine, available on newsstands in North America on June 1, 2010.
