Toronto Underground Cinema opening night event on May 14th

The Toronto Underground Cinema, formerly the Golden Classics Cinema, on 186 Spadina Ave, is having an opening night FREE double bill of Clue, and Big Trouble in Little China! This new cinema is run by former employees of the Bloor cinema, who left to open a theatre that focused more on ‘cult classics, seldom-seen treasures, popular favourites, and whatever else kicks cinematic ass.’

Opening night is Friday, May 14th, and will be celebrated with a double bill that highlights the Underground’s ethos:

7:00 — Clue (1985): Based on the Hasbro board game (oh yes) and written and directed by Yes Minister’s Jonathan Lynn, this mystery–comedy was originally released to theatres with one of three different endings. With Christopher Lloyd as Professor Plum.

9:00 — Big Trouble in Little China (1986): Kurt Russell stars in John Carpenter’s kung-fu satire that’s only increased in popularity in the quarter-century since its release.

Admission to both films is free, on a first-come first-served basis. Regular programming at the Underground is set to commence May 28th.

Their website is coming soon, so for now, you can follow them on Twitter, or their Facebook page.
