Toronto Comic Arts Festival 2010: Headlining guest is Dan Clowes

Unlike previous TCAFs, which were held bi-annually, TCAF 2009 is being followed by another festival this year. Like last year, it is being held at the Toronto Reference Library, and is on May 8th and 9th. The TCAF 2010 website will being going live on January 19th with the full guest list, but it was announced on Friday that the headlining guest will be Dan Clowes, an artist who rarely makes convention appearances. He also created the TCAF 2010 poster above.

Clowes is well know for being the author, and artist, of the cult comic series Eightball, and graphic novels such as Ghost World and David Boring. He was also nominated for a ‘Best Adapted Screenplay’ Oscar for the film version of Ghost World, and he adapted another short story from Eightball into the movie Art School Confidential, both directed by Terry Zwigoff. His appearance at TCAF will also conincide with the release in May 2010 of his latest graphic novel, Wilson, by Drawn & Quarterly.

Last year rgbFilter extensively covered TCAF, but a lot of the footage from the 2009 Festival has still not been posted, so we are aiming to rectify this over the next few weeks – we still have a lot of great interviews to put up, so keep checking back for them. We will also be at TCAF 2010, where we hope to get lots of great interviews with what we are sure if going to be a amazing line up of guests.
