LG IQ Windows Phone coming to Telus soon, pictures leaked
A few weeks ago a Best Buy Mobile flyer (see the flyer image by clicking more below) showed a mysterious LG handset called the IQ. This mystery was quickly solved when it was discovered that this was the HSPA Windows Mobile ‘Monaco’ QWERTY slider, previously rumored to be coming to AT&T in the US. Today The Mobile Ninja’s posted a gallery with lots of of images of the phone – hopefully a hands-on will follow.
According to the Ninjas the IQ has a 3.2″ screen, 5mp camera, LG’s S-class interface and, most excitingly, a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor. It is not running, as rumored, the long delayed Windows Mobile 7, just 6.5. However, thanks to the Snapdragon, it will be more than capable of running WM7 when Microsoft finally releases it in 2010. Hopefully there will be an official upgrade from LG, but if not there are always the custom ROM geeks on XDA developers.
Telus, with their new HSPA network, is really doing a great job of putting some high-end smartphones, that are not iPhones, into our eager hands – they are also releasing the Android 2.0 packing Motorola Milestone in early 2010. Hopefully their existing great relationship with HTC (for example being the only NA provider offering a HSPA Hero) will also mean that they will release the HTC HD2 in 2010. However with specs very similar to the HD2, the IQ looks to be a very respectable choice if you need a hardware keyboard.
Continue on to see the original ad from the Best Buy flyer, showing the Rogers Eve Android slider, the Telus BL40 Chocolate and the IQ.
