iOS app devs say “Happy Father’s Day” with huge discounts on premium games and apps

By RebelScum on 17 Jun 2011

Your Dad has an iPad, right?

Here’s hoping, as iOS app developers are once again using any excuse they can to gift dear old Pop some cool software at significant discounts. And hey, Dad, if you’re reading, if you’re not in the market, well…more for me.

Lots of developers are getting in on the this-weekend-only-action, but the best deals are coming from game devs, notably EA and Gameloft. EA’s Manly Man Sale is offering games for as low as 99¢, and not just games they’ve sold a billion of as a token gesture to their loyal customers; I mean current, new games, all discounted. In fact I think the most expensive price point in the sale is $4.99 across the board with only one exception; Real Racing 2 HD tops out at $6.99, a 30% discount from the regular price. Pretty sweet.

Gameloft’s offering is a touch more svelte, with only 8 games seeing discount, but the kicker is, all 8 are premium titles, and all 8 are on for only 99¢. Considering that Spider-Man: Total Mayhem usually sells for $6.99 on the iPad, clearly, this is both a great time to buy for people who’ve been holding off on pulling the trigger on some of the pricier iOS games, and a bummer of a time for those who already did. (I mean, at the time, $6.99 seemed like a pretty good deal for Tiger Woods 12. Le sigh.)

Happy shopping people.
