TCAF 2011 on May 7th and 8th

The Toronto Comic Arts Festival returns to the Toronto Reference Library this weekend. The now annual festival, unlike a typical comic convention, focuses on the diversity of work being done in the medium beyond the standard superhero fare.

A few days ago Christopher Butcher, the TCAF Festival Director & Co-Founder, posted his festival wrap-up on the TCAF website, Torontocomics.com. In this he thanks everyone who attended, and “some of the organizations and individuals who worked to make TCAF 2010 such an unprecedented success”. We can attest to this — this year’s TCAF was the best ever, and you can see all our coverage here.

We went to the Daniel Clowes presents Wilson event on Friday night, where Mark Medley, arts writer from the National Post, sat down with Daniel, and talked with him at length about his career, art, and Wilson (his new graphic novel). Some interesting info I learned was that he created art for an animated Ramones video, and there was the short-lived ‘OK’ Cola created by Coca Cola, that featured his artwork on the can.
