Pure Pwnage Android app l33t Speaker beta demonstrated

At Fan Expo, Geoff Lapaire of Pure Pwnage was kind enough to give us a look at the still-in-beta app that they’re developing for Android phones (an update to the already available iPhone app).  The soundboard app, l33t Speaker, will have both basic and Pro versions, and Geoff shows it off on his Nexus One.  The soundboard is a popular app category, but sound quality can sometimes be an issue.  Since this is an official app, not only is the sound quality going to be top notch, but they’ve actually…

Google’s Nexus One says goodbye

Google had already announced that they were going to end their direct sales of the Nexus One to customers some time ago.  As of today, the carrier-free unlocked phone is sold out, never to return.  Though there are carrier branded versions available in some countries, the real target of the Nexus One was early adopters, looking for the most recent and uncluttered Android interface.  To that end, the Nexus One will certainly be getting another round or two of official Android updates. DHL Having a Problem with Google Nexus One Thievery

I recently ordered a Google Nexus One phone, it has been years since I have turned my back on the world of mobile gadgets but thought it’s time for me to give it another try. My excitement and mirth shot up when my phone came in a box that seemed too light to be believable. Apple sues HTC over 20 patents… war is on?

The news broke this morning that Apple is suing smart phone manufacturer HTC, maker of  many popular Google Android and Windows Mobile devices.  In their 700 plus page ITC filing, Apple lists a whole slew of specific HTC devices running both operating systems, including the Nexus One, HD2, Touch Pro, Hero, Touch Diamond, Touch Pro2, Tilt II, and quite a few more. It’s interesting that Apple is going after HTC as opposed to either Google or Microsoft and their operating systems.  There’s precious little, on first blush, in the patent…

Nexus One Press Conference live stream

Live video by Ustream Google and HTC are officially announcing the Nexus One at this moment.  You can watch the live stream above and it should be archived for the future.  Most of the hardware and software is what the rumours predicted, and there are some half measures to make stock Android function a little more like the Sense UI, though it’s not necessarily enough to make me happy.  At this point, there’s no official word on whether the phone will see a general release, or remain a ‘dev phone’…

Nexus One is the HTC Passion, Wind compatible, $530 unlocked, coming in January

Today documents and screenshots leaked out to Gizmodo and Engadget showing some Google pages, and HTC training materials, for the Nexus One Google phone. The HTC documents are also clearly labelled as for the HTC Passion, so these phones are one and the same. The HTC documents show that the Passion is HTC internal name for the Nexus One, but it is not clear whether HTC will sell it as the Passion in other markets outside North America. The leaked Nexus One images and videos showed the phone running ‘stock’…
