Raindance Canada – July Workshops and Seminars

Want to make movies?  Have the hankering to finally tell a story instead of filming the family dog yapping away for the umpteenth time?  Then read on fellow lens-jockeys.  Raindance Canada is back this July with a slate of awesome workshops and seminars geared towards teaching the fine art of filmmaking.

Anatomy of a Film Reel

Objective: To capture and hold an audience’s interest in the first 10 minutes or so of your film.

Before you can think of getting the audience’s attention and interest in watching the screenplay you are writing, you must get the interest of a script reader who is working for an agent, producer or studio.  He or she is the first person who will determine whether or not your screenplay has the potential and worth to purchase. A studio script reader will know at the end of the first 10 pages whether or not it is worth continuing.

Attendees will be given Act I of the script “Excited” to follow on screen, then a live intimate panel discussion take place, which entailed:

– study of script & screen
– single role of being a writer/director/producer
– film distribution & financing
– online marketing
– Audience Q&A

Date: Wednesday, July 28
Time: 6:30pm – 9:30pm
Venue: St. Paul’s Church 227 Bloor Street East

“‘Write and Sell the HOT Script’ is concrete and practical without resorting to simplistic screenwriting teacher clichés. It will be an indispensable guide to writing your first great script,” comments Christopher Nolan

Sorry, I don’t think so. The only Raindance Canada location right now is in Toronto. They’re slowly moving into more cities, but right now their Canadian workshops is out of Raindance Toronto. You can check out their list of their international locations at the official Raindance UK site:
