Fan Expo: Brian Bolland Interview

Alex sat down with Brian Bolland, legendary comic artist behind Batman: The Killing Joke, Judge Dredd and Animal Man. They discuss the recolouring of The Killing Joke for the recently released ‘Remastered‘ edition, Mr. Bolland’s process, including drawing on a Wacom tablet, as well as the British comics invasion and more. We also managed to score a signed copy of the ‘Remastered’ Killing Joke that we will be giving away in a contest. Check back for more details soon.

    Hey Alex,
Good job on the Bolland interview. Funny you guys discussed a Watchmen re-colour and how it was unlikely then DC went and did one. Interesting bits regarding his Photoshop techniques, and how he manages to use the computer as an invisible tool in his art. Judge Dredd always struck me as a parody of American action heroes. Not in the broad sense, but more like the way Italian westerns treated the cowboy. If you get it, you dig it. If not…

    Cheers!

Thanks for the complement. I wasn’t able to attend much of Fan Expo 2009 so didn’t get a chance to interview anyone, but I hope this year, at both the Toronto Comic Arts Festival in May, and at Fan Expo 2010, to interview more artists. Speaking of the Watchmen, the recent rumours, with the DC management shake-up, of new Watchmen comics (prequel or sequel) are pretty horrifying…
