Fan Expo: Kevin Eastman to bring us another Heavy Metal movie in 2010

Kevin Eastman, co-creator of the iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and current owner and editor of Heavy Metal Magazine, is planning on bringing another Heavy Metal Movie to the big screen.

The story was broken by Variety Magazine on March 13 2008, but Eastman was kind enough to give us a few more details on the production, including some director talk. The new film will include a series of vignettes, each of which will be done by a different director. Until now, only Eastman, David Fincher, and Blur Studios’ Tim Miller had been confirmed, but Eastman drops some names you’ll want to hear as soon as the video gets posted.

Eastman has owned the publication since 1992 and was therefore not involved with the original movie, which was released in 1981, but was a driving force behind the decision to make a sequel, which was released in 2000 and never quite sat well with him.

Eastman was kind enough to sit down with me at Fan Expo on Aug 24 to discuss the movie, as well as various other projects, including some insight into Heavy Metal Magazine and his decision to take his place at its helm. That interview will be posted here very soon so keep an eye out for it.

Heavy Metal 3 (not the official title) should be making its way into theatres by 2010.
