Telus bringing Motorola XOOM to Canada

Motorola announced today that the XOOM tablet, running Android 3.0 Honeycomb, will be coming to Telus in April. There’s no official date at this time, but Futureshop’s website suggests that it should arrive mid-April. Although there are both 3G and WiFi only variants of the 10.1″ tablet, Telus will initially only be offering the WiFi model, which they’re recommending be paired with one of their mobile hotspot ‘Flex Plans’ to give users on the go connectivity. It will be available at Telus stores and other electronic retailers with no contract starting at $599.99.

Razer gaming gear

At the recent Futureshop ‘Back To School’, Alex also caught up with Razer, which makes a wide lineup of gaming accessories, from keyboards and mice to headsets.  We take a look at some of the gear, including the Naga mouse, which sports a numeric keypad on the side, for the hardcore MMORPG player. Alienware’s laptop line up

Futureshop recently held a ‘Back To School’ event with various hardware vendors showing some of their wares. Despite the ‘…School’ moniker, there was a plethora of gaming oriented companies there.   For example, Alex got to take a look at the Alienware notebooks coming to retail in Canada via Futureshop, including the M11X ($1199), a portable gaming rig in an 11.6″ almost netbook sized form factor. New slim Xbox 360 to hit Canada on Sunday

Announced at E3 earlier this week, the newly upgraded ‘whisper quiet’ version of the Xbox 360, which also more than doubles the hard drive capacity to 250GB, is slated to hit Canada’s two biggest electronics retailers Sunday June 20th, for $299.99.  With the release coming so soon after the E3 announcement, I’m guessing the supply chain for the original design has been very much controlled for some time now, to minimize the number of orphaned original 360s. PS3 3D gaming experience

Sony has officially launched it’s new line of Bravia HDTVs with 3D, either built in, or 3D ready by adding a transmitter.  To go along with the TVs, they’re also leveraging 3D games for the PS3.  Here in Canada the TVs will come with PSN codes to download MotorStorm Pacific Rift and PAIN, both of which are demos, or partial games, and WipEout HD and Super Stardust HD, both full games.
