Zune HD coming to Canada

Microsoft’s Zune HD portable media player, formerly only available in the US and UK, will be coming to Canada in the near future. Although first released in 2009, the hardware has never been available here. It’s curious that Microsoft would choose 2011 to bring their media player here, since they’ve been focusing on Windows Phone for their mobility solution as of late, including integrating many of the Zune features into their new phone platform. While the Zune software on PCs and the Xbox allows for both movie and TV rentals and purchases, it’s been noticably absent of music options here.

Acer releases new Aspire Z all-in-one and Revo nettop

When the Acer Aspire Revo series of mini desktop computers were released last year they were some of the first in a new generation of PC’s dubbed nettops. The Revo was one of the first nettops to pair the low powered Intel Atom CPU with Nvidia’s ION chipset – ION integrates a GeForce 9400 graphics card allowing net-tops equipped with it to function as a set-top box connected to your TV to play back video content. Boxee Box pre-order announced for all your pillaging needs

After originally announcing the Boxee Box for a spring release 2010, Boxee had to revise their schedule, promising the diminutive D-Link built media player for a fall release.  The Box allows users to access content both on the local network, as well as access thousands of online sources including network television, Netflix, Youtube and much more (of course, some services are geo-locked).  Despite some skepticism, and some hardware changes, it looks like they’re going to make good on the autumnal release.
