The Commodore 64 lives again, sort of

Remember the Commodore 64?  In its heyday day, it was the best selling computer of all time, and over the years a number of case modders have managed to cram a fully functioning PC inside the case.  Now Commodore USA hoping that nostalgia will help revive the form factor with modern internals on a more ‘official’ level.  The New C64s will look exactly like the original, but be driven by an Intel Atom/ION processor and all the expected ports, including either DVD or BluRay drive.  It will also include a built in Commodore 64 emulator, so you might want to dig out those old copies of Beach-Head and Raid On Bungling Bay.

On a side note, Commodore USA is also releasing a number of PC cases named after the Amiga line.  By the looks of the designs, they’re shooting for the Home Theatre PC crowd.
