You are here

Google’s Buzz rolling out.

Are you a lonely soul, wandering the streets, not knowing what to do? Or more accurately, are you a stalker wanting the mobile net making your life easier? heck, maybe you want to be a ‘stalkee’. If any of these apply, you have to absolutely, right this minute, check out the hot new Google social networking tool Buzz.  They’re still rolling it out, so it’ll give you plenty of time to go pick up a trenchcoat and some dark sunglasses.

Okay, so it’s not THAT creepy.  Maybe it’s the mellow jangly music, cutesy graphics and soothing voice overs that tend to populate Google promo videos, that lull one into a false sense of security that adds to the creep factor.  Anyways, if you’re addicted to social networking, and feel the need to share your ice cream eating habits with the world, Google’s got you covered.

  1. ‘Stalking’ and mealtime habits, eh? I’ll just get off of your lawn here, and let you get on with socialising by wearing an onion on your belt, or however it is the old-timers do these days. 8)

    1. At least there’s no shortage of white onions, as opposed to during WW1. 😉

Google shouldn’t have had a ‘hanging out in the park eating ice cream’ ending to the video, if they wanted to show how useful the service could be. 😉 After trying some of these location-based services, I suspect that it’ll be most useful when out of town.

BTW, just last week I launched Firefox on the ‘office’ machine, and Laroquod was still logged in when I went to Google. I logged you out, but not before doing a LOT of questionable searching. 😉

      1. You must have been bored out of your skull. XD

  2. ^^^To be fair, it WAS the style at the time.

Come on…yet ANOTHER social site? It might be interesting if it was some startup indy trying to make its mark on the Interwebz, but this is Google. They already have far far FAR too much access to peoples’ information and identity.

  3. That’s why they should be the ones to do something like this, rather than generating a whole other entity like Facebook that has your social graph. It’s not like there is really tons more information to be had by Google: they already have everybody’s address books, and guess what if they want to know who your Facebook friends are, they can just search Facebook now, because Facebook is so awesome that way.

I’ve always wished that Google, specifically, would step into this arena. But judging from their track record lately, chances are pretty good they’ll find a way to fuck it up real good.
