Team Fortress 2 now on OS X, FREE this weekend
After Valve’s successful launch of Steam for Mac, this weekend sees the release one of the most anticipated Valve Mac games, Team Fortress 2, where the eternal debate of Mac vs. PC can finally be settled on the digital battlefield (Steam Play supports cross-platform play).
The day Ian Fleming invented penicillin. The day scientists invented the moon landing. The day Sir Isaac Newton distracted the policemen investigating his wife’s murder by discovering gravity. All of these historic moments have two things in common. They helped steer the course of human history. And they’re all days you’ll skip past in future history books to get to today: the day Team Fortress 2 became available for Mac users…Like all the titles Valve has brought to the Mac platform, TF2 features Steam Play allowing gamers to make one purchase to play the game on both the PC.
Valve has also updated the game, on both Mac and PC, with a new single player Training and Offline Practice Mode, where you can brush up your skills against Valve’s “state-of-the-art bots”, which are “mute, so your incompetence is a secret they will take to their grave.”
Lastly this weekend you can download, and play, Team Fortress 2 for FREE until the end of June 13th. Valve is also giving players a limited edition set of Apple style ear-buds, to wear in-game, when you play the game on a Mac before Monday.
See Valve’s OS X launch trailer after the jump, and go here to the official Mac TF2 page for more details, and to read a cool web-comic about “Three blood-stained mercenaries walking into an Apple store”.
