Limbo game review

Unlike most platform puzzle games, Limbo isn’t going to put a smile on your face, unless you have a slightly dark sense of humour. The official summary of the game is “Uncertain of his sister’s fate, a boy enters LIMBO”. Like that austere and sparse description, the game world is full of empty space, leaving a lot of room for the player to imagine the world behind the game, rendered in what can be described as a beautifully layered charcoal sketch, with a silent film era grain. As the boy,…

Halo: Reach release date announced

Now that the beta for Halo: Reach has run its course, Bungie has announced that the full game will be coming out September 14, 2010. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bungie collected a LOT of debugging information during the beta, either. In less than 3 weeks, the beta run saw over 2.7 million users log 16 million hours and 1.1 billion kills. That’s over a kill a minute, if you’re curious. “It’s exceeded our expectations,” said Bungie Studios community director Brian Jarrard. “Our only real perspective going into this was…

Rockstar releases Red Dead Redemption launch trailer

The more I see of this game, the more I can’t wait to play it! While there have been many attempts before to create a ‘Western’ themed game, none of them have pulled it off successfully, however this game, a ‘Grand Theft Auto in the Old West’, looks like it could change that. Early impressions of the game posted today at Kotaku are good, and it looks like this game will be a must buy for 360 and PS3 owners. Hopefully, like Rockstar San Diego’s other franchise Midnight Club, there…

Game With Fame: teh_pwnerer wants to pwn you

Every week or so, Xbox has been hosting the Game With Fame series, where you can have a chance to play against, well, someone famous, be it musicians ranging from Busta Rhymes to Weird Al Yankovich or game designers and UFC fighters. Full 3D gaming on Microsoft’s Windows Phone demoed

Engadget managed to get a hands on of a couple of Windows Phone 7 games built with XNA Game Studio 4.0. Although they weren’t allowed to take any video of the games in action, they said it did work, including unlocking achievements. The more impressive of the two was a top down sci-fi looking dungeon crawler called The Harvest, running at the full 800×480 Windows Phone 7 resolution. The other is called Battle Punks and is a one-on-one fighting game. Although there’s no in-game action of either, they did post…

Xbox Live going 360 exclusive

According to a letter today from  Marc Whitten, GM of Xbox Live, the original Xbox is definitely looking at it’s sunset months, at least when it comes to online gaming.  Support for the original Xbox on the Live service will end on April 15th, 2010.   This includes both original titles compatible with the 360 and the downloadable Xbox Originals games. This doesn’t affect the single player experience, as it affects the multiplayer gaming aspect. The largest groups of people to be affected are fans of Halo 2 and Counter Strike….

Mass Effect 2 gameplay footage

If ever there’s a time to just sit back and chill, it’s a Friday afternoon when watching the clock slowly move to 5.  To help it pass faster, Joystiq posted 9 minutes of game play footage from the upcoming Mass Effect 2 using the current build.  Even though the video isn’t in HD, the level of texturing, and details in animation and environment are an obvious improvement over original. There’s some NSFW (or as I like to call it NSFFoxNews) language in the beginning, but beyond that, everything is shaping…
