Ubisoft crossover fever: Assassins Creed, CSI and Pets to have Facebook components

Do you like console gaming, but somehow find yourself wasting too much time on Facebook, making you fell guilty for not using your beatiful next gen console to its fullest potential? Depending on how you look at it, maybe Ubisoft is going to give you a reason to fire up the console more often, or maybe they’re just going to suck you all the way into the black (and blue – so much blue) pit that is Fb.

At a press conference in San Francisco, they’ve announced that they’ll be launching a Facebook based RPG that ties into the Assassin’s Creed universe.  Taking a page out of Chuck’s Ducks, when you achieve certain goals in the Facebook Assassin’s Creed: Project Legacy, the console version, ACII: Brotherhood, will be updated to show what you’ve unlocked.  Unlike the Crackdown 2 tie in Chucks Ducks, the data will also flow in the other direction.  As you progress through the single player console game, you’ll unlock items in the Facebook game.

They’ve also announced similar crossover plans for CSI, on Facebook called CSI Crime City, which ties into the multiplatform CSI Fatal Conspiracy.  There’s another ‘crossover’ project Petz, which ties Facebook, the iPhone and Nintendo DS all in one big ball of what sounds like super-cuteness.  According to The Escapist, the Assassin’s Creed Facebook game is supposed to be launching today, but it doesn’t appear to be live yet.
